Lessons from the Trees

Imagine treating the people in our world as if we are all connected?

One beautiful tapestry, single strands form strong weaves.

We can create a nurturing, supportive community,

Like the mycorrhizal network of fungi and trees.

As a mother tree provides a lifeline

Offering wisdom, nutrients and care

She exchanges essential resources

A deliberate and faithful love affair.

When the birch overshadows the fir

She sends along carbon to remedy

Steadily, the fir grows beyond the shade

A mutual commitment to longevity.

Lessons can be learned from the trees.

Ancient societies, coexisting and so alive.

Perhaps once we embrace our connectedness

We will do more than survive…

We’ll thrive.
